Company Description

We are currently engaged with a large, PE-backed home services client on a fast-moving triage engagement focused on demand capture and performance marketing across a portfolio of corporate retail locations.

The business knows things are broken — in paid search, local search, lead conversion, and agency execution — and needs a senior operator to walk in, assess fast, and start fixing. This VP/Director role owns that effort end to end, acting as the direct day-to-day partner to senior leadership while directing specialist support and building toward a clear handoff to the incoming permanent marketing leader.

This is a high-accountability engagement inside an organization under real performance pressure. The right person will be energized by that, not deterred.

Job Description

We are looking for a senior marketing operator to step into a complex, fast-moving home services business and lead the marketing triage effort from day one. This person walks into an organization that knows things are broken, assesses what matters most, and starts fixing — while serving as the direct day-to-day partner to senior leadership. This is not a coordination role. It is an ownership role.

The right person has operated inside trades or home services businesses before, understands performance marketing at a practitioner level, and doesn't need a perfect brief to get started. They think in outcomes, move with urgency, and know how to get things done inside organizations that are under pressure to perform. A key output of this role is a clear record the incoming permanent leader can act on from day one.

Contract Details

  • Rate: $95-125/hr
  • Hours: 40 hrs/week
  • Contract: 3-month contract starting mid-April. Possibility to extend well beyond April
  • Location: Remote but must work EST hrs. ATL-based candidates prioritized, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Own the Trades Retail workstream end to end — assessing the full marketing operation, identifying the highest-impact opportunities, and directing the work to close them

  • Serve as the senior day-to-day partner to leadership — surface what matters, bring recommendations, and remove the layer between leadership and execution

  • Assess paid search, local search, lead aggregators, conversion, and agency relationships quickly — identify what's working, what isn't, and what needs to change

  • Identify skill gaps and work with the broader team to activate the right SME support once the picture becomes clear

  • Continuously surface gaps in execution, budget allocation, data, and process — without waiting to be asked

  • Build and maintain a reporting framework that gives leadership a consistent, honest view of progress

  • Build toward a clear handoff — a record of what was found, what was fixed, and what the incoming permanent leader should prioritize from day one

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • 10–12 years in marketing with direct experience in trades, home services, or multi-location brands — career trajectory that has stayed close to execution, not moved away from it

  • Demonstrated ability to assess and triage complex marketing operations quickly — knows where to look and what questions to ask

  • Strong practitioner-level understanding of performance marketing — paid search, LSAs, local SEO, lead generation, and conversion optimization

  • Experience managing and evaluating agency relationships — knows how to retain, recalibrate, or exit

  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where data is imperfect and priorities shift

  • Comfortable operating inside PE-backed or high-accountability organizations with time-sensitive results expectations

  • Strong communicator who can synthesize complex findings into clear recommendations for executive audiences

  • Able to lead from day one without a ramp period — this engagement moves immediately
