Summary 


 


The Grant Writer is responsible for researching, developing, writing, and submitting grant proposals to foundations, corporations, government agencies, and other grant-making organizations. This role ensures the organization secures funding to support programs, operations, and strategic initiatives. The Grant Writer works closely with program, finance, and leadership teams to gather information and produce compelling, accurate, and timely grant applications and reports. 


 


 


Primary Job Functions 

 


Identify grant opportunities that align with the organization’s mission and funding needs 


Conduct prospect research on foundations, corporations, and government agencies. 


Maintain an up-to-date grants calendar outlining deadlines, submission requirements, and reporting dates. 


Write clear, persuasive, and well-structured grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents. 


Tailor proposals to meet each funder’s priorities and guidelines. 


Collaborate with program and finance staff to gather information on project goals, budgets, and expected outcomes. 


Prepare grant reports, tracking outcomes, metrics, and financial updates. 


Ensure timely submission of reports and maintain positive relationships with funders. 


Maintain accurate records of proposals, awards, deadlines, and submissions. 


Track grant outcomes and update donor management or CRM systems. 


Assist with compiling organizational data, annual reports, or fundraising materials. 


 


 


 


Job Qualifications  


 


High School Diploma is required.  


Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, public administration or related field preferred.  


2 years with related experience preferred 


 


 


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 


 


Exceptional written communication and editing skills. 


Strong research and analytical abilities. 


Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently. 


Familiarity with nonprofit budgets and program evaluation methods. 


 


Schedule Expectations 


 


This position is remote. It is a per diem position with opportunity for up to 19 hours a week if the organization needs it.
